How to Prepare for Your Senior Pictures

What You'll Learn

Celebrate Your Milestone

Senior year is an incredible time of transition, accomplishment, and looking forward to the future.

Your senior portraits should be more than just a yearbook photo; they should be an authentic celebration of who you are right now. Here is how to prepare for a session that truly captures your personality.

1. Choose Locations with Meaning

While our Champaign studio offers beautiful, classic lighting, we also love venturing outdoors. Think about locations that mean something to you.

Do you spend all your time at the local coffee shop? Are you constantly wandering through a specific park? Do you want an urban, downtown vibe? The location sets the tone for the entire shoot.

2. Plan Your Outfits Strategically

We recommend bringing 3-4 outfits to give your gallery variety. A great mix includes:

  • Casual & Comfortable: Your favorite jeans and a top that feels like "you."
  • Dressy & Elegant: A dress, suit, or outfit you'd wear to a special event.
  • Hobby or Sport: Your uniform, letterman jacket, or an outfit related to your passion.

Make sure to try everything on beforehand to ensure it fits well and makes you feel confident.

3. Incorporate Your Passions

What defines your high school experience? Whether you are a musician, an athlete, an artist, or an avid reader, bring props that tell your story.

Instruments, sports equipment, books, or even your pet can add a deeply personal touch to your portraits.

4. Don't Forget the Details

The camera captures everything, so pay attention to the details.

Ensure your nails are clean or freshly manicured (chipped polish can be distracting). Bring touch-up makeup, hairspray, and a brush. If you are wearing different outfits, remember to bring the appropriate shoes and undergarments for each.

5. Relax and Have Fun

It's completely normal to feel nervous at the beginning of the shoot. Our goal is to make you feel comfortable, relaxed, and confident.

We will guide you through natural posing and prompts. Just be yourself, and let your personality shine.

Let's create something unforgettable. Plan your senior portrait experience today.
